Waking up to Remeber

Waking up to Remember
Waking up excited
to see the new born puppies
waking up excited
to see her wagging her tail
in cheer and happiness
Waking up excited
to go take her for a walk

Waking up to see Nothing
Waking up
to see her being thrown
around by another dog
Like if she were a new bacon
flavored chew toy
And “The owner” just standing
and watching
Seeing her walk back
with her head tilted to the side

Like a Real Mother
like a champ
so that
she would be able to
lay with her puppies
for the last time
Seeing her close her eyes
slowly And gently
lay her head on the bed
All the puppies
crowding around their Mother
Saying good-bye

Waking up to see my little sister crying
My whole family
feeling bad and destroyed
My whole family crying
Waking up to remember

  1. very strong and powerful poem. I liked how you bolded parts of the poem

  2. I like the way you bolded some lines which placed emphasis on the important ones. The repetition of waking up added to the meaning of the poem.
