Act 3, Scene 1: The Quarrel Between Mercutio and Tybalt

PROMPT F
Pretend you are a character in the scene. Get inside that character’s mind. Tell how the character feels about himself or herself.  How does he or she feel about the other characters? About the situation? Remember, you are pretending to BE this character. Write a brief paragraph/monologue in the character’s voice. Think Reality TV Confessional. (5-10 sentences). If you’re feeling brave, record it and post the video.

Romeo: Oh my god, these men need to stop fighting. That is, the Prince says the next to disturb the streets of Verona will be executed, yet they still fight. What is so important about starting a quarrel between each other? They are going to get themselves killed! Even worse, this will look bad on me too! The Capulets will think Montagues are troublemakers, and they will try to separate me and my love, Juliet.  I must stop this.

Romeo finds out about Mercutio passing away.

Romeo: That man has killed, murdered, my friend. I will not stand and watch Mercutio die. I will get sweet revenge on Tybalt, as for he caused this whole quarrel and the passing of my Mercutio.
