Act 5 Scene 3: Misfortune in Both Houses

Prompt F

Perspective: Friar Lawrence
I feel bad about all of this. Romeo such a gentleman and Juliet such an exquisite beauty, both dead because of me. Two people's lives could have been saved if only I sent Romeo that letter myself. I could have at least saved Juliet's life by taking her with me, instead of leaving her to herself. I'm the one that caused all of this. I married them, yet I also killed them!

Act 3 Scene 5: Juliet's New Husband

Prompt C

The lines that I liked the most in this scene was when Juliet asks Romeo, "Oh, think'st thou we shall ever meet again?" and Romeo responds by saying,"I doubt it not; and all these woes shall serve
  • For sweet conversations in our times to come." I like this line because Romeo still has faith that he and Juliet will be together. This is evident when he said that this will all be "For a sweet conversation in our times to come."  Even though all odds are against them being together Romeo's love and faith is so strong that he won't give up no matter what, as long as he has Juliet

Act 3 Scene 1:Many Deaths

Prompt B

Romeo-Why didn't you stop the fight between Tybalt and Mercutio yourself, instead of telling Bonvolio to?
Mercutio-Did you end up hating Romeo?
Tybalt-Why did you come again?
Benvolio-Why didn't you step in and stop the fight between Tybalt and Mercutio?
Lady Capulet-Why are you saying things you never saw and aren't true?

Act 2 Scene 3: Romeo's Marriage

Prompt A
The way Romeo consults or rather tells Friar Laurence of his love for his enemy is almost like he is confessing. This reminds me of the TV series Daredevil because like Romeo, Daredevil confesses to a priest. They both have faith in the holy men because they trust them not to tell anyone about what the are doing and about their secret. Both Romeo's and Daredevils actions seem bad, but they both do it because it seems right to them. Although one is a crime fighting vigilante and the other is of nobility they both do what they do out of their strong emotions.

Act 2 Scene 1: Searching for Romeo

Act 1 Scene 1: Searching for Romeo

Prompt E

The relationship between Romeo and Mercutio at first seems like that of good friends. Mercuto is seen trying to cheer Romeo up and trying to convince him to go to the party, this makes him seem like a good friend but what I gather from this chapter is that Mercutio just like to make fun of Romeo. He seems more like a fake friend that laughs behind your back than a friend. This can be seen for this scene when he was making fun of Romeo and laughing at him.

Act 1 Scene 1: Romeo's Depression

Act 1 Scene 1: Romeo's Depression

Prompt E

The relationship between Benvolio and Romeo is that of best friends or the very least very good friends. Benvolio was actually worried about Romeo's depression and wanted to help him forget about his love. Benvolio suggested that they go look at other women so Romeo can get better. Benvolio also seems almost like an older brother to Romeo, as can seen with the way he treats Romeo. He tells him dirty jokes and gives him advice, which seems like something an older brother would do.

Xenophobia

“Why are humans so full of hate?” I keep on questioning myself.

Muslims are being prosecuted because of an incident that happened years ago.
Blacks can’t walk the streets without being stopped by the cops.
They’re being hunted down simply because of their skin color.

People wish they were born white.
Instead of being happy with what they have.

People make jokes.
“Asians are smart and Hispanics are gardeners.”
In reality we’re hurting one another with our words.
People don’t realize the power words have.
They’re like little razors cutting our spirit every time someone says something vile.

We try to destroy racism with protests.
It isn't working.
What other way is there.
We need to find a way to stop this.

“I want this to stop” I keep on telling myself but I never do a thing.
It feels like I’m part of the problem instead of the solution.

We've done so much to stop racism.
We've ended slavery.
We've ended segregation.
Now everyone has equal rights regardless of race.

Although we've done all these things, racism is still here.
There has to be a solution to this dilemma.
But we don’t have an answer yet.
