Act 5, Scene 3: Questions for the dead

Prompt B

Questions for Act 5, Scene 3

Romeo: Why didn't you try to explain what you were doing before you killed Paris?
Friar Lawrence: Did you ever think that your plan would fail?
Friar Lawrence: Why didn't you just send Juliet to Mantua to be with Romeo?
Juliet: Did you think about your family and not just Romeo before you decided to kill yourself?
Lord Capulet: Do you feel that you are at fault for forcing Juliet to be married so soon?

Act 3, Scene 5: A Clashing of Juliet's Worlds

Prompt C:
I chose the quote where Juliet says, "My husband is on earth, my faith in heaven. How shall that faith return again to earth, Unless that husband send it me from heaven." This quote really shows how Juliet is torn between two different worlds, one where she makes her family happy, and the other where she is happy with Romeo. It also shows how Juliet feels she is doomed. I was surprised that Juliet felt so doomed, when I thought that the obvious choice for her would be to marry Paris, since it holds a much brighter future. Also, she already said goodbye to Romeo for a very long time, and if she didn't expect to see him for a long time, why not marry Paris?

Act 3 Scene 1: The Montague/Capulet World War

Prompt A

Just to be clear, I am not saying that the rivalry between the Montagues and the Capulets is anywhere close to being on the scale of a World War, but it does have some similarities to WWI. According to history class, WWI was started by a 'small' fight between Austria and Serbia, but the many alliances between the countries caused the major parts of Europe, at the time, involved with the fight. Similarly, in Act 3 Scene 1, Tybalt and Mercutio are exchanging retorts, when Romeo comes in. Tybalt then wants to fight, and Mercutio asks him to either fight him or run, and Tybalt decides to fight Mercutio, eventually killing him. This causes a small chain reaction, where Romeo fights Tybalt, and kills him. This then gets the Capulets and Montagues mad at each other. This is similar to the chain reaction that started WWI.

Scene 2 Act 4: Brotherly Friendship

Prompt E: Mercutio and Romeo

I think that Mercutio and Romeo have a brotherly-like relationship, because although they mock each other and playfully tease one another, they don't do this meanly. For example. when Mercutio and Romeo are talking with each other, Mercutio sarcastically says how he the perfect example of courtesy. He states that, "Nay, I am the very pink of courtesy" (95). Romeo then jokingly responds by saying "'Pink' for flower" (95). This describes their relationship because it shows how they exchange sarcastic comments, yet remain friendly. This is similar to a relationship between brothers, who also sometimes joke with eachother, while sometimes remaining nice.

Act 2 Scene 2: Prompt D

Prompt D:
Image result for wedding
This image relates to Act 2 Scene 2 because in this scene, Romeo and Juliet talk about how they are committed to each other, and that they decide to get marry. However, Romeo and Juliet probably won't have a happy wedding, unlike the two in the picture, since their love is doomed.

Act 1 Scene 5 Prompt F

(Tybalt) When I saw Romeo, it made me incredibly mad. Since when does a Montague get the privilege to come to a Capulet party? Methinks it is dumb that Mr. Capulet prevents me from being able to show Romeo that this party is for Capulets only, and that he and his ignorant friends should leave our premises. If only we didn't have a prince, I would be able to fight Romeo. Maybe if I got some of the other Capulets riled up, we would be able to kill the Montagues. What gives them the rights to be here, do they think they are better than us, the Capulets? However, there is a prince and Mr. Capulet, so I am unable to get rid of the Montagues.

Perspective

I see the sky
It’s hue of blue, changing to red or hazy, then black.
I see the airplanes, leaving their own little lines etched into the sky.
The clouds, moving quickly on a windy day,
Forming shapes that sometimes remind me of animals.
At night, I see the lights
The stars and airplanes, mixing in the darkness.
Above my home, I see Orion’s belt,
The three stars, billions or more miles apart,
Yet from my perspective, they seem only inches apart.

Perspective changes a lot.
When you look at something far away,
It’s silly how small it looks
It can make you think differently
Show you the light in a dark situation
Perspective is like advice,
it can be good or bad,
But usually it’s from someone who wants to help.
Everyone has a different perspective on things,
We all have our own experiences.
That’s one of the many things making us unique

We can always share our perspective
