ACT 5 SCENE 3: Life from death

Prompt C
This image shows how new plants have sprouted from a skeleton.  These plants were able to grow because of death.  This resembles how a new connection formed between the Montagues and Capulets when Romeo and Juliet died together.  Their death created life and hope for the families, as there would be no more fighting.

Act 3 Scene 5: Lord Capulet Disowns Juliet

Prompt A
In Act 3 Scene 5, Lord Capulet is enraged when he finds out that Juliet loves Romeo, Tybalt's murderer.  He believes she should be hanged, and will disown her if she does not marry Paris.  This reminds me of how today, extremely conservative parents have chosen to not accept their children's sexuality, and instead disown them because they are not straight.

Mercutio- Why did you decide to fight for Romeo
Tybalt- Did you plan on killing Mercutio?
Prince- Why did you decide to exile Romeo, even though he was just dishing out an inevitable punishment?
Lady Capulet- What made you decide to blame the Montagues?
Benvolio- Why didn't you stop the fight?

ACT 2: Romeo takes risks

This image shows a man taking a risk by jumping off of a cliff into water.  In Act 2, Romeo takes many risks, sometimes even risking his own life just to talk to Juliet.  He also takes a risk by asking the friar to marry them.

ACT 2 SCENE 2: JULIET IS DEEPLY IN LOVE

In act 2 scene 2, Juliet says,
"Deny thy father and refuse thy name,
  • Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
  • And I'll no longer be a Capulet".
  • This quote interested me because it shows how much Juliet loves Romeo.  She is willing to give up her name just so she can be with a Montague, a sworn enemy of the Capulet family.  She has only known Romeo for a day, and has fallen deeply in love with him because they made a sonnet.

ACT 1 SCENE 5:ROMEO FLABBERGASTED

In the scene, Romeo says that he has "ne'er saw true beauty till this night".  He says this because he sees Juliet, and is completely amazed at how beautiful she is.  He believes that she is the most beautiful woman that he has ever seen, and shows why he immediately falls in love with her.

ROPE

Love is like a rope
Two people hold each end of it,
Pulling at it, keeping it straight.
Sometimes a thread breaks,
And they try to mend it with tape.
The harder that someone holds on to it,
The deeper an imprint it makes.
They ease up on it sometimes,
To make sure that it does not break.
When the rope begins to tear at their hands,
Burning their palms and cutting their fingers,
They let go,
Because they cannot endure the pain.
As the cuts heal,
And the hands get calluses,
They become better prepared for the next rope,
So that they can hold on longer.
One person can be pulling harder than the other,
And some just want to drop it.
One person may betray the other,
and cut the rope with a knife
It can be hard as steel,
Or it can be hanging on just by a thread.
If they keep pulling on a weak rope,

The rope will snap.
