Prompt E
Romeo and Mercutio have an interesting relationship where they are close friends and feel comfortable talking to each other, using puns, being witty, and having friendly competition. However, when Mercutio says "Why, is not this better now than groaning for love?" it shows how Mercutio thinks that Romeo should not be lovesick and when he is witty and around him, that is who he really should be. Mercutio thinks about women as objects, while Romeo has actually fallen in love and spent time thinking about things other than the physical aspect of love. Mercutio and Romeo both have very different personalities, but they get along well together. One main difference is that Mercutio does not know that Romeo loves Juliet. He still thinks that Romeo loves Rosaline and has not really seen the Romeo that is around Juliet. When Romeo is around Juliet, he is a totally different person than the one that is being witty with Mercutio. While Mercutio and Romeo are friends, they do not know everything about each other - especially the important fact that Romeo loves Juliet and wants to marry her - so he do not know everything about Romeo and what he can really be like. They are close friends, but Mercutio does not know about a whole different side of Romeo.
