Act 3 Scene 5: The Fickle Nurse

Prompt C

  • "Romeo is banished, and all the world to nothing
  • That he dares ne'er come back to challenge you,
  • Or if he do, it needs must be by stealth.
  • Then, since the case so stands as now it doth,
  • I think it best you married with the County,"
I liked this quote because it shows character development as the story continued. The nurse was almost always supported Romeo and Juliet's relationship but now she sees a better opportunity for Juliet. I think that this is a real turning point in the play that makes it seem far more fictitious than real. A sensible person in this situation would have gotten their marriage with Romeo annulled and married Paris. This is why this play is thought of to be one of the best love stories. At a turning point where one would normally take one path, Romeo and Juliet take the other.
