ACT 2 SCENE 2: JULIET IS DEEPLY IN LOVE

In act 2 scene 2, Juliet says,
"Deny thy father and refuse thy name,
  • Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
  • And I'll no longer be a Capulet".
  • This quote interested me because it shows how much Juliet loves Romeo.  She is willing to give up her name just so she can be with a Montague, a sworn enemy of the Capulet family.  She has only known Romeo for a day, and has fallen deeply in love with him because they made a sonnet.

  1. I like how you compare that they are both "different" (Montague,Capulet). They have a very interesting relationship.

  2. This quote touched my heart, Juliet is willing to give up her last name to be with somebody who is an enemy.

  3. I find this quote interesting also. How can Juliet be so sure about her feelings for Romeo to give up her last name? How will her family react when they find out Juliet is in love with a Montague?
