Act 2 Scene 1:
- I conjure thee by Rosaline's bright eyes,
- By her high forehead and her scarlet lip,
- By her fine foot, straight leg, and quivering thigh,
- And the demesnes that there adjacent lie,
- That in thy likeness thou appear to us.
Mercutio and Benvolio are trying to find Romeo, but when they canon find him, they give up. In result, they start making fun of him and insulting him with things they think is funny. Romeo would not appreciate their insults if he were there. This is like friendships between teenage boys. A lot of time between friends they insult each other in amusement and this is what is going on here. It is just a bunch of playful banter that seems to occur a lot.
What use does this playful banter have to teenage boys?
